Ekiti State 2018-2022: Signing off
Yesterday, my job was officially done as a public official. I am grateful for the opportunity to work at the pleasure of the State Governor, Dr. Olukayode Fayemi and serve the people of Ekiti State since 2019.
The past years has been a learning process for me as a policy wonk and an understudy of governance in practice.
I am grateful for having the unique privilege of overseeing many State projects, amongst which include monitoring and evaluation of all State projects and public policy programs, policy and research writing - most importantly writing the State’s 30 Year Development Plan, geospatial innovation projects, playing a role in the State’s Knowledge City project, and kickstarting the implementation of the State’s Digital Agenda.
Governor Fayemi gave my ideas the natural habitats to nurture, the cover to critique and grow, and provided the wings to fly.
Unlike what’s seen anywhere in this clime, he allowed for a healthy space to question and interrogate many policy issues with so much freedom, openness, maturity, while balancing my approach with wisdom and candor.
Grateful for his calmness and patience, tolerating my bursting energy in my quest to radically and quickly change things.
Public service comes with a lot of challenges, it is indeed a thankless job, and I am grateful to have put my policy experience to practice.
Unto the next!
